What do I do with it?
I've looked through the threads but they don't quite answer my question.
I have a lamb shoulder, 7 biggish bits of pork belly and 2 big pieces of casserole beef. I want to make the maximum amount of budget freezable meals with this, but not a roast with the lamb.
Can anyone advise please? I bought these today, and I have a slow cooker but obviously if it takes all day to do one it'll be three days! I don't mind leaving it on overnight. Any ideas please?

Why not cook them at the same time in a conventional ovenSurely, by cooking over several days, you run the risk of the uncooked meat spoiling.
Won't it be cheaper, tooand some of us will say it's tastier

cook it then pop in freezer?0

I might not be imaginative but what else can you do with a shoulder of lamb other than roast it?
I'd cook all the beef together with veg and onions then split into smaller portions and you could then use as stew, or pie fillings. I have never bought belly pork as its a bit fatty for my taste..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I meant if I cooked the lamb in the slow cooker with water etc, what is the best way to get the most freezer meals out of it? And can I cook all three in slow cooker or do I run the risk of them going off????0

Sorry, I've clearly misunderstood this questionHow many meals you get depends on the weight of meat
Slap it in the SC if that's how you choose to cook it, and then search for recipes or threads on pork, beef and lamb.
Am I missing your point?

I would cook the lamb really slowly in the oven until the meat is falling off the bone. Then I would shred all the meat and add it to a rich tomato sauce and then freeze that in meal sized portions. Have a look at this Jamie Oliver recipe.
Think about adding pulses to your meat. Beans and lentils are really cheap and are a good source of protein.
Kidney beans are good with beef so why not dice the beef and make a chilli con carne with kidney beans, tinned tomatoes and perhaps some carrots too?
White beans like butter beans, cannellini or haricots are good with lamb. Add them to the lamb in tomato sauce.
Try the pork with green lentils.
All the above can be done in a slow cooker (if you must).0 -
The belly pork can be turned into bacon, but dont know the exact details, Im sure you could google it.Clearing the junk to travel light

My oh likes belly pork roasted. You dont get that much meat on belly op as there is quite a lot of fat and skin. You could cut it up and cut the fat and skin off. Then use it to make casserole or curry. I agree the best way to treat shoulder of lamb is to roast it. If you dont eat it all you could make some sort of curry or have it cold or mince it.
Beef. Make a stew with plenty of veg, potatoes, pulses etc. You can freeze some of it afterwards.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Hi snowedunderitall,
I personally wouldn't cook pork belly in the slow cooker as it will be soggy and fatty and there will be no crispy skin, likewise lamb shoulder is best cooked slowly in the oven.
If you take a look at these threads they may help with the cuts of meat that you have:
Lamb shoulder
How do I cook a shoulder of lamb in the SC??
