nokia files to windows codec needed?

I have and can play in "my pictures" a file sent from a nokia phone, I want to edit and send it in windows media but cannot find a codec . I f I download it from a site how can I be sure that it is safe?..I use norton.does any of this make sense?..i am vaguely aware of techi things on a score of 1-10 I would be a 2!!!!!!!

If you send a picture from your phone to your PC ( i presume you are doing this via bluetooth) you PC should be able to open it OK
I have done this on my Sony ericsson and the pic was in JPEG fromat0 -
it'll be a video file rather than a pic if it's using Media Player and sounds like it's sent from somebody else via email.
Might be safer to download Quicktime and play it via that.0 -
if the file is .3gp format you can play it in quicktime or nokias media player software available from the nokia website0

agreed VLC is the "player to fit all" lol.
BUt also correct all movies / videos from Nokia are in a 3gp file format, so you need a player or a codec to support this.
