EDF - account has rolled over... :-(
Advice please.
My electricity is with EDF - the contract has run out and now they won't let me out of it without paying them £500!
They say that they sent a letter out when the existing contract expired and gave us 28 days to respond. The contract has now 'rolled over' for another year and they say that we are unable to get out of it until the contract has finished.
Does anyone know of a way to get out of this 'roll over' contract? My bill is really high with them and I could pay virtually half of that if I can move to British Gas - which I was trying to do until EDF informed me of the roll over contract, something that I hadn't heard of before now.
Appreciate your help in advance, thanks.

I take it this is a business tariff?
Plenty of posts on the disgraceful 'roll over' provision in business tariffs; it seems you are 'screwed' by all the companies.
No protection for you, as for domestic customers - caveat emptor0 -
I don't think there's any way out for you, I'm afraid. Of course, you shouldn't be in this position in the first place because I genunely don't believe the Govt/regulator should allow this sort of practice. It's dodgy as hell IMO and should be outlawed.
PS Funnily enough, the one company that doesn't even insist on a min. contract for business users let alone a rolling contract is the one that seems to get singled out for daming criticism by the poster above, lol.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
