Changing suppliers with fixed tariff?

We are on a fixed tariff with British Gas and are tied in until December 2009. We are moving house at the end of August to a property who has their supply with NPower on a fixed tariff until early 2010.
We rent properties and the property we are going to is currently vacant.
How do we go about sorting out the supply and which tariff do we end up paying?
Can we instruct BG to change over to supply our new address with our current tariff?
Do we have to pay NPower on their tariff until then and does this mean we are tied into their tariff or is it the landlords responsibility/tariff to be on?
There is a cancellation fee for both suppliers tariffs, does anyone know the best way of doing things?
Thanks.

Have just found out that if we move house, then we can cancel our current supplier without incurring a cancellation charge. Do we therefore have to take on the current supplier and their current fixed tariff at the new property or can we just take on the supply at a standard tariff until we decide what/who we want? Is that our choice or do we automatically become tied in to the fixed tariff there?0

As you are on Price protection December 2009, you can transfer that tariff to your new address.
Nothing currently available comes close to the prices of that tariff - tier 2 gas is 2.654kWh.
Admittedly it will only be for a few months.
You will have to pay Npower for the energy you use until the account is switched, but as your new house is vacant you can start the switching process now.0
