Hi peeps,
We're thinking of a holiday to Cyprus in September. We have family in Larnaca so will stay with them for the 1st couple of days. So I have the following questions please:
1) Any hotel suggestions
2) Activities and things to do
3) Decent restaurants
4) Has anyone ever been up to the mountains (Troodos)
Thank you!

Check the hotel reviews and Cyprus forums on Trip Advisor, maybe you should ask your family in Larnaca for their recommendations too.0

Larnaca has a fort if you like that sort of thing. Choirokoita is a neolithic village and is really quite amazing looking at how they built all their houses. It's a bit of a climb up to see it though. Cape Greco is rather pretty. Probably best to visit by boat than by car - there's not as much to see from the top. If you head towards Agia Napa there are some nice beaches. In Protaras we found two great eating places - both on the main hotel avenue. Zucchini's, which we wanted to bring home so we could eat there every day, and Molti, which did amazing salads. You can also see the dancing waters in Protaras - rather a touristy thing to do but an enjoyable evening. We didn't make it up into the mountains - driving was nice enough on the main roads but we didn't fancy steep hillsides!
Hotelwise - we stayed at the sunrise beach hotel in Protaras. Loved it there but possibly not the cheapest option.0 -
Definately take a trip up to Troodos - its beautiful up there and there is usually a little market with nuts and other local specialities. Its actually amazingly un-touristified compared to the resorts (apart from said market) and there are only a couple of places to eat up there. Its worth driving all the way up to the highest peak - the views are absolutely amazing. For me a trip to Cyprus wouldn't be complete without a trip to Troodos.0

Hello!
Thank you very much for your considered reply! We actually got married in Cyprus in '98. Service in Paphos, 3 days trip to Jerusalem & then a week in Protaras & we stayed at the Sunrise Beach Hotel ... but thank you again"onwards & upwards"0 -

Hi with regards to hotels... spotted this for myself the other day, EasyHotel now have a hotel in Larnaca, make what you may of it (check it out at https://www.easyhotel.com) but it is just 25 euros per room per night night. Which I think is really good value. On offer for most dates in the first few weeks of September. Not sure of your dates... and just thought I'd share my find. :beer:0 -
I stayed at The Olympic lagoon resort in Ayia Napa. It is away from all the noise clubs in the square but you can easily reach them. The hotels was lovely, the food was great and the beaches were amazing. There are loads of nice restaurants to choose from too.
I went to the Troodos Mountains in a jeep. It was great. Like another world. That particular trip also stopped off in a village and there was also a wine tasting experience thrown in too. Couldn't reccommend the trip enough
One of the best holidays I have ever had. 0
