Silly mistake with Capital One

in Credit cards
I think i've made a daft mistake with Capital One credit card.
I saw it was the King Georges horse race on Saturday and didn't feel to well so I looked on here and opened a betting account with Stan James as they were giving a deposit match bonus.
I registered my capital one card as I though a tenner won't make much difference to my balance but if my horse won it would take £60 off my balance... Bonus.
Anyway I think my horse is still running and i've just checked my cap one account and they've charged me a £3 cash advance fee for the £10 I put in.
Don't make the same silly mistake as me

Yeah, most online bookies are treated as cash advances by CC companies. I believe it's standard?0

I didn't even think of that at the time but it's obvious now you mention it. Oh well I still have my free tenner to play with so fingers crossed I pick a winnerIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

For what it's worth, it didn't use to be like that. When I first opened up my Paddypower account, I used one of my CCs (actually it was a Capital One!) purely because it was a low limit and I only ever used that card for internet transactions. I definately never got charged cash advance, although I did change it to credit from my bank account later anyway.
I guess they wised up!0 -
I didn't think they did. I must admit I like a gamble and when it comes to big races or football matches I try and open a new account with a free bet.
I have registered my credit card in the past and haven't been charged. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
Maybe I should give that a go, always stayed loyal to Paddypower because they were so handy (they used to have a fab Java widget for my phone, before these new fangled internet enabled handsets became so popular).
Mind, with my track record, it's probably wise I don't!0 -
I think i've pretty much used up all the offers now so when it comes to the World Cup and Grand National next year i'll have to start opening them for the wife
Bluesquare had the Java thing for the phone as well but that was way to handy when i'd had a drink and my local had the night racing on the tellyIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
Luckily for me I tend to stick to the football and odd bit of cricket. Bluesquare any good then?0

Yeah I like Bluesquare and use them as my main account. It seems to be my lucky account as well as i've won quite a lot of money with it. Think i've put in roughly £350 of my own money in to the account but i've withdrawn over £8000. That includes a £4753 win on a Lucky 15If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

HUZZAH! What a result!0 -
Oh well I used my free tenner on My One Weakness (quite a fitting name) at Southwell and it won at 4-1 so capital one can keep their £3If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00
