in Credit cards
Hi hope someone can help. Me and oh parted company recently. I an staying in the house with kids and he has gone back to his mothers. I am trying to move out - house will be on market soon - just finishing some jobs off first. I plan to move as soon as i can back into parents (who have kindly offered us somewhere to stay indefinitely)
My ex has bills here and bills at his mothers ie. mortgage and sky and BT are here - they already have sky and he is still in contract here so cant cancel, and he cant cancel phone line as it is part of the sky agreement that BT line runs through it. I am looking at informing all my creditors that i am moving to mum and dads address and informing them quite soon, once i have my head round the whole saga.
Anyway my question is.. what impact will it have on my credit rating that i have things at 2 properties? Mortgage will be here and everything else apart from the current account attached to mortgage will be at parents.. I dont intend on going mad for credit but will need a bank account and cc as we had joint ones via bank - or we still do up to now
I imagine it will impact me as my ex wanted a tesco cc and got knocked back, he sent all bank statements in etc and they accepted him, he was toild the reason he wasnt accepted 1st of was due to the credit check info not adding up - ie 2 addresses with his details on etc.
Obviously i know getting on electoral role asap but what else if anything can i do to not hinder my credit score?

Unfortunately, your changed circumstances will temporarily disrupt your credit rating. Lenders like stability, so best practice is to apply for credit facilities, where possible, before you move/change jobs/change banks. Being with the same employer, bank and current address for a while, all help when applying for creditPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

Thanks for the input. What i am concerned about is the mortgage and the current account that is attached to the mortgage will have to stay at this address whilst everything else is at parents. It is 'typically' taking 9 months of properties near me to shift - or so EA tells me.So i am looking at say 14 months before it sells, work needs doing prior to it being put on market. Is there any way of minimising the disruption to my credit file? I have been with employer/bank an awful long time, and have lived at this address for 5 years - prior to that i lived back with parents.0 -
Presumably you're on the electoral roll at your current address. (Btw, there's nothing to stop you from enrolling at your parents' home as well, if this is in a different borough, though you cannot vote in both localities, obviously.)
I would think about the credit facilities you're likely to need over the next 12 months or so and apply now before you make any changes. Once accepted by the new provider(s), you can advise them of the forthcoming move.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Do you need to move your other bills from your home to your parents? If you're keeping the house on for a while and paying your council tax onit, can't you keep your banks etc at that address? And then do as Moggles suggests?0
