Dell Computer Insurance Problem - HELP

Options
Bought a Dell Laptop in Sept 2004 and took out a 3 year warrenty.

Recently there was a problem with the laptop (the computer wouldnt charge up) and took it back to Dell.
They stated the motherboard was "knackered" so they replaced it free.

Within a month after fixing it, the computer had further problems. The computer wouldnt start (even after putting the charger adapter). I sent it back to Dell and they said that it was down to myself as the power cable was pushed in "too hard". They said the warranty wouldnt cover this (however i feel i didnt do such an act - i think it may have been done when it was fixed by Dell)

They said that the cost would be £350 which i would have to pay.

I feel that this problem wasnt caused by myself BUT by DELL themselves. 2 questions:
1)Should the 3 year warranty cover this (even though i feel it wasnt my fault)
2)If the problem was from myself, why doesnt the insurance cover this anyhow?

How can you put the cable in too hard?
    Are you superman?
  • Depends if the insurance plan covers accidental damage?

And was the laptop working when ti came back from dell? i assume so.. in which case its easier for them to say "wen it left us it was 100% fine"

Just Mention Trading Standards as Dell are having you on.
  • Ye and if you are going to mention trading standards with the small possibility of taking it further, make sure you can record all telephone conversations (such as of them accusing you)

You can buy cheap phone call tape recorders i think :D So useful imo!! Verbal contracts are as legally binding as written ones.. they don't hold up in court simply because of lack of evidence!
