Tasty recipe that kids loved...

I just made this for this for dinner and the kids loved it, very good and very tasty. Not for the diet conscious though, lot of cheese and butter etc. I used all cheddar cheese as no parmesan. It is really tasty, very filling and worth making. I used wholewheat pasta instead of white penne and brown breadcrumbs for the top, means you don't burn up the carbohydrate so quickly as the white refined pasta.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I didn't use quite as much leek in it, only one, and four rashers of bacon chopped up, made the sauce more buttery and not too thick and added ground nutmeg rather than fresh like the recipe states. Used two heels from a brown loaf whizzed up in the food processor with a little bit cheddar and some cayenne pepper. I didn't use any double cream (don't need the calories) and used semi-skimmed milk. Just winged it with the ingredients, didn't measure. It was really nice and there was enough for one adult, and two kids with small portion left over. The kids loved it though.

We make this recipe alot, it is one of my favorite delia ones.
I never bother with the double cream in it, and always use semi skimmed milk. Also often add more leeks and some chopped mushrooms so we eat more veg.

Delia is fabulous but her recipes do tend to have a lot of all the ingredients that are bad for you :rotfl:

They always taste great though :D
