How much electricity do fans use please?
Hello
I have a mini tower fan in my bedroom, which I have been having on all night as it has been hot at night, even though the days have not been that summery.
The fan is a Fridgemaker 13" mini tower fan @ 30 watts.
I am assuming it does not use a lot of electricity, but I just felt like I wanted to check.
I just want to know if I am using a significant amount of energy by doing this.
thank you

If I remember rightly you simply turn the watts into kilowatt hours, (a kilowatt is 1000 watts) and times it by the time you are using it in hours. Then times it by the cost of a kilowatt of electricity (see your bill, will probably be above 15pish, but not sure, as the cost has gone up a lot).
So 0.03kw * 12 hours (the night) = 0.36kw
0.36 * 15p (the cost of electricity) = 5.4p
So it isn't really costing you much.0 -
cheers
