Website hosting/design techie problem

Options
Okay, this is probably a simple problem which just needs some sort of header line in the page's code, but here goes: if I go to https://www.bbc.co.uk (just an example - there is nothing specifically involving the BBC here ;)) then it will load up the web page, but if I go to my website it will load it from the cache (even if I have changed it since I last loaded) and so I have to press "refresh".

What do I need to do to stop this?

Thanks in advance :)

I think you mean the META refresh tag although I would not have thought you need it unless your site changes a heck of a lot.

Thanks, but I looked at that and it isn't what I need. I just need it to refresh when people visit it and not to reload from the cache. I can't understand why it does this. :(

So what you are saying is that when people visit they see the newest version
or the newest info on your website automatically, the thing that would prevent this is.

    They havent cleared there cache.

The havent got there browser set to find the newest page everytime.

Some of it is down to browser settings I think what you need is some code
that overides the users cache so they see the latest version of the site and not info taken form their own cache, does that make sense?

isn't that just your browser settings, not being set to refresh every time?

ie/ general, temp internet files, settings.

or are you saying that everyone gets the problem?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Er why dont you clear out your cache with https://www.ccleaner.com

And in IE Tools, Internet Options, General Tab, Temporary Internet Files, Settings,
Check for newer versions of stored pages, and tick, Every visit to the page.

This ofcourse will only affect your PC.

That's exactly my problem - I know when I've updated the site so I know when I need to reload the page. It is other people thinking they have loaded the most recent version of the page when actually it is just an out-of-date cache copy which is the problem. :)

Yeah the expiration tag is a must then, what this aslo does aswell is override
anyone who has set their browser to never update cache or get newest page.
