i ALWAYS bring in homemade sandwiches - far nicer than the processed crap u get from prepacked sandwiches and MILES cheaper too.
buy a big 50 box of crisps from ASDA and bring them in too
a piece of fruit from home too
I cannot bare 2 buy lunch when i have plenty of food at home. such a waste of money!0 -

I have recently moved into a new flat in the town where I live and it's a 2minute walk from my work - woohoo!! So I go home and have a cheese and salad roll and some fruit. This is a total luxury for me as for the last 10 years I have been commuting between 30 mins to and hour.
When I first started working here I use to buy rolls etc from the bakery over the road but it works out sooo expensive.
Sometimes I used to bring in leftovers (if there were any!)
We have a fridge and a microwave at our work. I use to buy salad stuff and bread rolls to keep at work so I could just make things up at work for lunch. Works out really cheap doing it that way. I use to pop to Morrisons on a Monday morning and buy enough bread rolls, salad and a few bits of fruit to keep at work for that week. Never use to cost much more than £5 for the whole week.HSBC Loan [STRIKE]£5845.83[/STRIKE] £2500 Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1085.76[/STRIKE] £592.74 Barclays Overdraft [STRIKE]£1100[/STRIKE] £600

I always make a batch of soup on a Sunday which then does me for my work lunches.
Something else which is filling and cheap is to just cook a large pan of pasta and then add sweetcorn and peas, peppers etc (whatever you fancy) and then divide it into lunch boxes for work.

Home made soup is great for the winter (mostly leek and potato or broth so its thick and filling but v cheap). Make my own sandwiches too or am also lucky at the mo that I can go home some days for lunch so often do the left over thing there and have a hot meal or fry and egg with toast etc.
Def try old style board for v cheap ideasDFW 228 LONG H 68

My Morrisons receipt (lunches) for the week
12 Wholemeal Baps £1
5 Bananas £0.69
5 Apples £2.33
Lettuce £0.69
1 whole melon £1
Total £5.71
So this will last me for the week (plus some cheese I already have) but the rolls will last me two weeks.
12 rolls for a £1 was a bargain!
Not impressed with the price of the apples though!
In the bakery over the road...a cheese and sald roll is about £2.10!!HSBC Loan [STRIKE]£5845.83[/STRIKE] £2500 Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1085.76[/STRIKE] £592.74 Barclays Overdraft [STRIKE]£1100[/STRIKE] £600

I forgot about couscous, I used to buy that Ainsley Harriot stuff years back. 3 packets for a pound I think it was. That's what I'm talkin' about!!!
I have never made a risotto. Might look up some good recipes. Thanks everyone!
Don't but that 3 sachets for a pound stuff- in tesco's you can buy a big bag of cous cous (in the aisle with baked beans etc usually- in the wholefoods sections) for around 1.50 I think and that will last you for at least 5 HUGE lunches. I've just made a batch up- added chopped yellow and red peppers, tomato, cucumber, spring onion, tiny bits of ham and cheese. I only used 400g and that will last a long time with all the other stuff added. Homemade cheese scones on the side, bananas etc and my other half was happy!- DFD 4th July 2015

I usually make up rolls.
I'll buy the 'taste the difference' ham in the reduced section of sainsburys, £4.29 down to 30pence even though it still has two days left on it. I do that a couple of times a week, freezing the reduced rolls to be thawed on the morning of consumption etc.
To me they still taste great but my Ham, Cheese and tomato rolls cost about 25pence each to make!!!
ASDA do paninis that are ideal for freezing. Because they are stone baked when you thaw them and grill them you cant tell they were ever frozen or near their sell-by date.
The are always in the bargain section of ASDA everynite, 11 pence for 3!!!! Tonnes of them every night.0 -
Ice tea is a very cheap drink and a nice treat. Its dead easy to make, make some tea in half a jug of water, add another half of cold water, add a spoon of sugar to taste and then put it in the fridge. V Nice! The World come on.....0
