withdrawing an item from "sale" stock

I visited Kathmandu on the weekend especially as they had their sale on and we needed some stuff for an upcoming trip.
I wanted a travel pillow and one was advertised in the sale brochure, which was available instore, reduced from £13.99 to £8.40 - 40% off.
I paid the bill and checked my receipt, the pillow did not come up at the sale price. I walked back into the store to query the purchase and was told by the manager that the item had been "withdrawn from the sale". I have kept the pillow as I wanted it, but wondered if it is worth an e-mail to head office as it was still advertised as being on sale in the catalogue available in store and there was no end date or anything about when the offers expired.
Thanks for any help.

it may be worth sending an email like you said to ask for a reason as to why it was removed and it would be worth explaining that you visited the store specifically for that product, ideally the store would be more than a few miles away.......but i dont think you will get a discount as they have the right to remove any product from sale, the brochure will more than likely have a small print saying something to that effect
good luck though you never knowEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
That's a really really long way to go just for a travel pillow!!!!!
