Could it be that the reduced stuff is available to staff?
Maybe they have a little staff shop or something and put most of the stuff that's reduced in there?
I know in tesco, asda, etc near me it seems to be late evening 9pm ish, that everything is reduced the most.
this use to happen in our tesco store but staff dont get a look in ie flowers were avalable to us for a pound a bunch yet on shopfloor the were reduced to 25p0 -
Probably telling you all something all you savvy shoppers know but here goes!!! If a product that is buy one get one free ends up on the whoopsies the buy one free still counts. I never knew this till I was buying whoopsie bacon the other day and man stocking shelf told me to get the free one also. Hope this helps someone.

If the OP was refering to a sainsburys store then all sainsburys stores send any out of date foods to an incinerator which will burn the stuff and create energy to heat a depot0

The cut flowers not being reduced IS a corporate decision by Sainsbury's, this has been in force for about 12 months now. The flowers that aren't sold within life should not be binned though. They should be donated to local hospices, churches, old peoples homes etc
I did not realise that. I had noticed for a long time that I was not getting any cheap flowers. But I glad to know that is the policy. Shame they don't state that policy somewhere.

our local ,orrisons offten sell there bread for 9p it tends to be after 7.00pm but I've been i n earlier when all the bread in the whoopsies was 9p including cakes muffins, pitta bread, scones, etc. I always tend to go mad when it's 9p and stress when I get home that I've let somethig go!:beer:0

thats the thing, they dont have to state it
That is rather stating the obvious.
Of course they don't have to state it
But if they want their shoppers to know that they have green polices and not just dumping in landfill. Then why not to let customers know the wastage policies.
Might mean that some people change their views if they knew the flowers where going to old peoples homes and the food wastage was being burnt to make energy rather than just going in land fill.

I believe that is a company wide thing, our store won't do that either. I'm not sure why. We're told though that if we ever get a bunch of flowers with a reduced label on to call a supervisor as it is likely a customer has switched the label.
It could have been that the previous manager was going against the company policy.0
