This reminds me of my friend, I do love her really.
One early morning she decided to come food shopping with me and I wanted to get some pork mince, asda which the we went in had about 4 trays of mince reduced. I kid you not she almost fell over her self running to get them before I got there, as it was, it was minced beef.
I know we all need to save money in this climate but I think I would have entered a physical with her if I dared to take any of them, I told her its ok, i didn't want any of them, she said I wasn't stopping (clutching ALL 4 trays of mince like a kid with a bag of sweets) you from getting of them! She only saved 80p at the most.
She's also another block the whoopies aisles, so no can get in there with me lady too.

I used to work on a deli counter years ago, and we used to sell the ends of the meat after slicing at very cheap prices, one morning as the store opened two guys came running down to the counter to get the meat, one tripped over (his own feet) and accussed the other of tripping him, which turned into a huge argument and almost a fight, and because of them we had to limit how much anyone could buy!0 -
I often give my fella a lift to work at 6.45am, then I pop into the 24hr asda, the night staff do a warehouse clearance there is usually 2 large cages of reduced stuff, last week I got well over £90 of shopping for just over £18, boxes of crunchy nut cornflakes 50p, crate of 12 fruit shoots 50p 12 pouches of tiger cat food 99p 12 pouches of felix cat food £1.50. 18 adsa shades loo roll £1.49 plus many other items0

I find Tesco are pretty mean with their reductions but Sainsburys (expecially after 6pm) are generous. I have on occasions brought fruit and ended up having money paid back to me at the checkout because the 2 for £2 offer etc still applies in spite of paying 50p for 2 (IYSWIM) so £1.50 in my pocket. I find that damaged cereal boxes/tins normally have a 75% reduction too even though the contents are perfectly intact and edible.0

I have noticed that my local Sainsbury doesn't have as good savings as it used to. The bargains used to be fantastic but due to a change of manager they are not quite as good. Mind you they have now started reducing all of the bakery stuff which they didn't used to. Used to break my heart going in later at night and watching the staff putting rolls, baguettes and that into bags to be binned.
Mind you for some strange reason the new manager has stopped reductions on the fresh cut flowers. The plants can be reduced but not the flowers they are just binned rather than being sold cheap. :mad:Dream as if you'll live forever - live as if you'll die today0 -

The 2 for £2 etc offers won't work on reduced products in Sainsburys unless the price of the two items comes to over £2 even when reduced. The only offers that still work when reduced is Buy One Get One Free or 3 for 2.0 -

I believe that is a company wide thing, our store won't do that either. I'm not sure why. We're told though that if we ever get a bunch of flowers with a reduced label on to call a supervisor as it is likely a customer has switched the label.
It could have been that the previous manager was going against the company policy.0 -

I've noticed that doesn't happen in my Tesco anymore. If it's reduced you don't get any multibuy/save. I thought this had gone nationwide now?
It was nice while it lasted though
My local tesco is pretty good with reductions, I frequently fill up the freezer (yes it is a smallish one!) with stuff. :j0 -
i know we all love a barguin but are the barguins to be had
is it me or are they not such a barguin anymore - used to be able to get bread at 10p a loaf at the end of the day -- now though ur lucky if u get 10p off
same with joints of meat again 1/2 price or more used to be the norm with them now if its £5.00 origional price u might be lucky and get them for £ 4.50What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
