Was tempted the other day when I went in, but persuaded myself to buy a free range one from Lidl for about £4.30.0

Got one Saturday and it tasted alright. £2 can't complain and even got to choose which one I thought was the best. How shallow am I :rotfl:
chedder - what was the Lidl Free Range one like, tastewise?0 -

I usually get the cooked chickens from morrisons....I got 2 of them (£2) and got lots meat off them. They're really nice.
Went this morning for more only to find offer finished..
They don't seem to advertise in any of the fliers when they are reducing them..I think it's only in store you find out.:hello: Never say Never :smileyhea0 -
Hmmm if they're selling for £2 (at a profit of course!) then how much is the chicken actually worth.... leads to how well must they have been treated if so little value to the chicken............0

I was once told by a buying dept of one of the main supermarkets a value chicken costs around 40p. This was 3 years ago though. Most own brand chillded goods have a very high mark upMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -

I have had these and they taste same as other free range from any supermarket, I cannot compare with farm / butcher free range as none around meEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I paid £7 for a free range one in Tesco today. I wouldn't normally pay that much but I really fancied buying a chicken and felt free range was the way to go.
I shall probably have it tomorrow and see what it tastes like compared to non free range.0 -
To report back on my Tesco Finest Free Range Chicken....it was nice, but nothing special. Tasted like any other chicken i've had, which was disappointing as Free Range chickens get good reviews.
Morally worth paying more for, but financially not0 -
They mark them down around half an hour before the store closes.
Friday night is Morrisons shop + cooked roast chicken for a lazy dinner for us. They go cheap if you hit it at just the right time, but also disappear fast. I saw someone take six. What were they going to do with them? Rotisserie chickens are lovely fresh but not convinced on how well they keep.0
