Bank charge waiver

Does anyone know what is happening with the FSA bank charge waiver? From what I understand the waiver that was due to expire on the 26th of July has been extended until January 2010. I'm beginning to think that I'll never get my money back from Lloyds. :sad:

Send copies of letters received from LTSB to the FSA. The FSA are gathering evidence against LTSB on their treatment of customers, in relation to bank charge reclaims, under the hardship waiver.0 -

Do you have a link to confirm that and a address to send to?
If you are a LloydsTSB customer no doubt you have had a letter saying "we're looking into it"
You will probably then recieve a letter saying "we agree you are in hardship, but all claims are on hold until the test case is over"
Any corresponence after this usually results in the same 2 letters getting sent back to you time and time again
I have spoken to the FSA about Lloyds.
The FSA tell me that this is clearly a breach of their rules, if a bank agrees you are in hardship, they HAVE to process your case.
The FSA have also told me that whilst they will not deal with individual cases (use the FOS for that) you should send copies of Lloyds letters to them with a covering letter which states that you know that the FSA will not look at individual cases, but you believe the FSA should be made aware that Lloyds are agreeing that you have a hardship claim, but are refusing to process it until after the test case.
Call the FSA (number on their website) and they'll give you the address to send copies of your Lloyds letters to. You probably wont get a reply from the FSA, but they have said they will treat this very seriously if Lloyds are clearing breaking the rules
Write your letters FAO: Adrian Crick at the FSA.0 -

I have had letters telling me they won't even consider me for hardship, i had to go to the FOS just to be considered. Cheers for the info i do not think the FSA will do anything about it though.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
If only the FSA could follow the example set by OFGEM last week, when OFGEM fined EDF £2M. The FSA are farrrrrr to soft. Gov. needs to remove that overpaid bumpkin, at the top; Lord Turner.0

I've had the "we're looking into it" letter but not the hardship letter, however I will contact the FSA regarding the manner in which I have been treated. When I was first charged an overdraft fee in January (£150 charge for going over my limit by £2) I phoned up their helpline and was told that they can't deal with it over the phone and that I would have to go to the branch, so the helpline is actually no help, I didn't go to my branch I went to the nearest one, it being a Saturday morning and I'd just finished a nightshift I wasn't really in the mood, but they told me that only my branch could deal with it, I arrived at my branch and explained my problem and was then kept waiting for half an hour only to be told that because it was a Saturday there was nobody in who was authorised to deal with it, but they said that someone would phone me up on Monday morning. By Monday afternoon noone had called so I called them. They had no record that I had even been in the branch and so noone was planning on calling me. I explained the problem and he told that I had been informed that the charge would be made, when I told him that I hadn't been informed he told me that because it was on his computer screen that I must have been informed and that even if I hadn't I would have known about it if I had "taken the effort to look" (that was his exact words). Because the charge had taken me over my overdraft limit I was concerned that I would be charged again, so I phoned up the helpline and I was informed that I would be charged again, I tried to argue that it was the charge that took me over the limit but I was told that I had made myself overdrawn by incurring the charge in the first place. I have since learned that it is illegal for them to do that. Since January they have made over £300 in charges, and now it seems I have to wait another 6 months before I can even start the process of reclaiming my money, and these people have the audacity to award themselves millions of pounds in bonuses out of taxpayers money. Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting but I really am getting very sick of it all.0 -

Agree with that, them Lords have no idea what happens when people get these charges and end up in debt - as long as their wages are in tact them Lords are happy and think we all must be too.

So its not just me having hassle with lloyds tsb then. a £200 overdraft has cost me over £1000 now and i still owe £277 and then next month they are adding another £165 on top. Charges on charges and interest on interest. my god when is it all going to end. Lloyds said they were going to help. So they give me a bit bigger overdraft so i wouldnt incur charges. then the following month they added charges and interest. i had already sent them a letter bout my financial situation. i got the letters they not dealing with it till test case is over even though i am in financial hardship. Your best bet is to go to the ombudsman like i have. i sent the ombudsman the letter 2 months ago, they rang me the other day to say they were getting in touch with the bank. Hopefully i will get my money back. Also, i just looked on my credit card statement (what im trying to pay back also) they have put a charge on from May. Just like abbey tried to do with me. Something drastic needs to be done a.s.a.p. We all just cant cope with this rubbish.0
