Can't you pay your store cards by post? Or by taking the bill and the cash into the store so you can destroy the card?
If not leave them at home apart from the day you pay them, give them to your mum if you struggle with will power.
Certainly ditch the £25 per month clothes budget, as a student you don't need decent stuff and it is daft to buy clothes with borrowed money you can't repay. Use what your already have or buy from extra money earned as the previous poster suggested. Don't go round the shops and you won't get tempted.0 -

I don't know...i don't have a cheque book. I used to work in Topshop so i know how the paying cards works. You need to swipe the card then put in the payment amount.
My college/uni is right in the middle of the city centreSo i'm always surrounded by shops..i don't take the cards out with me anymore.

thanks, i am trying for any job at all at the moment. Only thing is with a bar job, i'd only be able to work Fri and Sat nights, as the buses here only run all night on Fri and Sat nights, not during the week. Otherwise it'd be impossible for me to get home again.0 -
i dont know what hours your course expects you to be at uni but what is a good trick and i only learnt it in my third year - get to uni for 9 and stay till 5. treat it like work - you get more studying done, more coursework out the way - you are still mixing with your mates etc. then when you leave at 5 the shops will be shut - hence no reason o but - the only problem is the pubs are open then!!O/S Debt: PL £[STRIKE]15207.34[/STRIKE] £9884.55; HSBC £4060.99; Tesco£1430.15; M&S £5990.17; Virgin [STRIKE]£5158.69[/STRIKE] £4210.14; Egg £4619.00; O/S = ££30,292.42 AIM - To Be Debt Free 56 months0

Thanks, i have no idea either
But the summer school i have to go to is from 9-4 mon-fri so i'm going with that for now.
Thanks, i am soo scared about starting uni...i just know i'm going to fail! I'm not very bright, or organised, or any of those kind of qualities you need to be a student.
I mean it's took me 5 years after leaving school at 18 to even get to uni0 -

I am trying to get a second job/more hours, but nobody seems to get back to me at the moment
Another way of using a spending diary is to allocate a weekly amount to yourself per week, from your budget after all essentials have been deducted. Using receipts, deduct as you spend through the week. Try to get to the end of the week leaving some over to carry forward to the next week. This has the effect of keeping your overdraft down and avoids overspend.0 -

Hi
You need to start by asking the Student Services people what Study Support is available, preferably before you start. There will be people who can help you understand referencing, how to read an assignment, to take notes, what the regulations mean, how to take notes. They are often more help than your course tutor. You will also have a personal tutor.
Most universities have a job shop as well. And sign up for the careers service on your first day.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
