I want to apply INTERNALLY for DWP Jobs (EO position).

I applied externally for the post in March and have posted a few times on the waiting list thread and have had to wait for months along with the external aplicants. The problem I find with internal promotion exercises is it is all about the job and and what you have done over and above your current grade. You will tend to find that sadly a lot of the time you get promoted internally if "your face fits" because it is usually the same people asked to take on extra jobs. If you apply externally you can add to your competancies using examples from your outside life. Is your AO job fixed term or permanent.Although you took 15 years
thats great news! how did you go about applying? what was the internal process for applying for EO???
and Congratulations on the new position :beer:0 -
Its an 18 month fixed term which can be made permanent if I apply for it or something or other (thats what the lady on the phone said) well as I wanted to apply for the EO before i'll probably apply externally if that gets declined well I'm already in there with the AO job i guess so cant complain. My cousin who is an EO gets around 22 grand yearly but he said the rate of pay varies in different regions and that he's head the EO positions in the west mids are usually around 19 grand yearly... is that right?0

Not quite, there has just been a pay rise all EO's start on £20,240 London gets slightly more. Each year you have a report with your line mgr and the give you a marking depending how you have done over the year which gives you a bit of a bonus not much about £30 but you also get your annual rise which moves you up the payband. This also applies to all grades. Did you say you applied to the west mids area because there are EO jobs on the DWP site at the moment for the Telford and Worc areas. If you scored 11 or over in your AO test and 10 in maths you don't have to sit the test againIts an 18 month fixed term which can be made permanent if I apply for it or something or other (thats what the lady on the phone said) well as I wanted to apply for the EO before i'll probably apply externally if that gets declined well I'm already in there with the AO job i guess so cant complain. Thanks for the info its very much appreciated. Well I'll be working in the Bilston branch. Telford and Worc is a bit further out so I'll probably not apply to that just yet, but wait for other posts to become vacant. Will I be able to obtain my Numeracy/Literacy results once I start working there? They didnt give me my results when I had the test. They just gave me a brown A4 envelope with a few bits and bobs inside about the interview etc. and a letter saying "Congratulations you have successfully passed the assessment tests and will be invited to an interview being held on so and so date at so and so time" my interview was on a Sunday can you believe!
