Mbna credit card problems

Options
First of all i would like to say hi to everyone as i am new to the forum

I had a postcard come through my door today from global vantedge saying that someone would be coming round on monday unless i rang up and paid. I belive that global vantedge is pat of mbna but is based in india. I am in arrears with the credit card but cant afford to pay it. Iv heard about these companies that can clear thee balance but you have to pay alot of money for it. I also have breifly heard about some sort of letter i can send to mbna asking them to clear my balanc is this true or not. Any help with this matter would be greatly appericated.

Thanks

Well first thing to do is acknowledge to yourself that the debt is there and will not go away.
Do not pay any of these idiot companies anything - for starters you cannot afford it and secondly you can do it yourself for free.
Speak to the CAB or national debt helpline who will help you with the debt.

Whatever you do - do not let any caller into your house on Monday about this debt = they do not have any right of entry without a court order.

I have done a little research and found that i need to send a cca letter to my credit card company is this true and what is it for and if possible is there a template for the letter.
    Thanks

Have a look around some of the other posts and you'll find the templates you're looking for and the range of advice given to others.

You need to ask them for a copy of the original agreement which you would have signed (normally the application form).
If they cannot provide this then they MIGHT not be able to enforce the debt.
Please note I am only saying MAYBE. The debt will not be cleared but they MIGHT not be able to take enforcement action against you.
At this stage they MIGHT accept a lower sum to clear the debt and the slate is wiped clean.
