Sent £80 Notice for resting at Service Station
nobile
Dropped some relatives off to Heathrow last week - on the return journey I was feeling quite tired so pulled into the next service station at about 4am - (an EMPTY service station car park BTW)
Managed to to rest for a bit - then dozed off for a couple of hours - so in total spend about 3 hours there)
Received a Notice 10 days later (from CP Plus Ltd) demanding £80. I never stop at Services as I never drive long distances or travel overnight, but this was a one-off. I just pulled in - wasnt aware of any signs, or the fact that I had to pay once over 2 hours.
I think in future, I might just chance it! So much for all those 'Tiredness Kills' signs!
Before anyone has a go at me - I havent broken any Law; I havent got caught & fined & penalised for speeding; I havent been Fined by a Court etc so I am not asking for ways to be 'let off' for breaking the law.
However - £80 for using common sense and not wishing to jeopadise my or other road users safety seems out of order to me.
Where do I stand folks regarding this?

Don't ignore the tiredness signs, if you must ignore someone make it CP Plus.:rotfl:Dropped some relatives off to Heathrow last week - on the return journey I was feeling quite tired so pulled into the next service station at about 4am - (an EMPTY service station car park BTW)

Can they send bailiffs or take it to court - eg for non-payment of charges etc?0
-
They will threaten to, but in practice none of them ever have. See www.pepipoo.com forums also where you'll hear pretty much the same. Can they send bailiffs or take it to court - eg for non-payment of charges etc?
Responding could be seen as an admission of some sort, so as above just ignore any correspondence from them.0 -
Also covered in other threads on this site. All with same advice to stuff the "fine".
C'mon nobile, with 100 posts to your name, you surely know how to search?0 -
CP Plus are well known.
It's a mail scam. Private companies have no powers to fine anyone.
• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore any threatening letters from them
• same applies to their powerless debt collectors (they are not bailiffs)
• chance of court: 0.1%. Chance of them winning in court: 00000.1%
• they will give up and go away0 -

You can be very sure that had CPS pursued it the poster would have been back. Either to ask for further comments or to tell us the information given here was wrong. Follow the party line and ignore.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Just to reassure you Claire. I got a letter from Trethowans acting on behalf of CP plus in April, relating to an alleged ticket in January. I took the excellent advice from here and ignored it, I have heard nothing at all since.Just ignore, and if they contact you again, ignore again! Keep on ignoring and they will go away.0 -
CP Plus have never ever taken anyone to court.0
