Hi,
Wonder if one of you wonderfully techie people can help me??
My daughter has a new computer - a dell inspirion with dvd player on it - but it seems to be set up to play zone 1 dvds only - and her dvds are mixtures of zone 1 and 2.
Is there any facility to change the zone setting at will?? If so, how do I do this please?
It's windows home premium vista 64 bit.
Thanks in advance....I know it's probably something simple....but it is so far escaping me!!

sometimes of you go to the properties of the DVD drive there might be a option under that. I have had a fair few with this option BUT you are only allowed to change it normally 5 times.

If you can set the zone, try setting to Region 0 (Region Free). Be aware though that some DVD's are "protected" against playing on region free machines.
Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!

If your drive was manufactured by Lite-ON you can use this utility to disable or reset the RPC counter, but you'd still need something with which to play the DVD as most commercial DVD decoders incorporate their own region protection, as does Windows itself.

Of course, if you use something like the VLC media player to watch your movies you don't need to worry about this sort of thing. :)

It's not so simple as that.
There's a thread here from vidolan forum that explains why:- Is VLC region free?

Point taken. Most of my drives have already been unlocked, so I never really noticed. :o

    Gosh - that sounds complicated:eek:
Think I will just let her play it on my computer, which seems to accept it.

    Thanks anyway:rolleyes:
