in Phones & TV
I have two 'phone lines into my home. One is a BT line, that I have with Talk Talk which includes Broadband.
The other is a Virgin line that is part of my TV package. I am still on the basic non digital package.
Then I have a mobile with Vodaphone on a Sim only deal, 600 mins and U/L texts.
I pay TT around £23-£28 per month, depending on calls made.
I pay Virgin £20-£24 per month, depending on calls made.
I pay Vodaphone £20 per month.
I now only need one phone line as I have recently retired. So, I'm thinking of going to o2for my Mobile phone (£20 PM for 800 mins and a UL calls to landlines bolt on). Transferring my Talk Talk line back to BT and getting o2 broadband.
Getting rid of Virgin phone and TV package and getting a Freeview box. By doing this, I think I could reduce my costs by 50%.
Hope anyone reading this can make sense of it! Any advice most welcomed.
Thanks for reading.

It depends on your preferences/needs/calling pattern.
I can no longer justify a mobile contract so the GL and I each have a PAYG mobile - costing us less than £5 per month.
With TV, we favour Sky's Variety and Knowledge mixes even though we have excellent Freeview coverage.
I'd certainly dump VM - the most expensive voice telephony provider in the UK - retain the BT line and then assess telephony use to decide which BT calling plan is the nearest match and then make prudent use of 18185 for calls which aren't inclusive.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
O2 broadband is good but only if you can get it LLU on your exchange. The O2 Access service is expensive and just a resold BT Wholesale product.
Having an O2 mobile registered will give you an extra £5 discount on the broadband price, so it comes down to £7.34 (if you can get it LLU).No free lunch, and no free laptop

Many thanks for both replies.
LLU?0 -
LLU= Local Loop Unbundled.
The Standard and Premium Services are only available on O2 LLU. O2 Access is on all other exchanges.
Goto samknows.com to see what other operators are available LLU on your exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop
