I used one of the new machines earlier today to pick up my pre-booked tickets - Visa / Mastercard / Amex all shown as accepted - no exceptions shown so no further knowledge as to which ones don't work.
I always use my Amex and my OH uses a Visa with these machines - on all occasions, as the tickets have already been paid for, the system just records the details of the card for proof of pick up if there is a later dispute - it does say that the card will not be charged.
Hope this helps

I recall the problem is only with cards that are shaped like the MINT mastercard, everything else will be okay provide it is accepted on-line to buy the ticket.
It is not just train ticket machines but some others too, I think ones at cinema's have the same problem.0 -

It's all about the 'missing' corner - airline self check-in machines don't accept them either
I bet the marketing person with the 'quirky' idea is in big trouble :rotfl::rotfl:Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
i ordered it with a different cc
one thing i didn't realise until reading this forum was that the trainline.com website charge a booking fee and a surcharge for booking train tickets yet the great western website doesn't bizare how they differ does anyone know the reason why ?
is it just a matter of making more profit ?
i decided on reflection to book from the first western website lol0 -

@linton73 - MINT will give you a normal rectangular credit card if you ask them to.0

To catch out the suckers. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
As for "all other cards work", Solo cards don't, even though they are accepted on the National Express East Coast website.
If you are collecting when the ticket office is open (so not at 6am like me!) then you can just take the card & booking reference number to the ticket office/counter and say the machine won't give you tickets, they'll print the ticket(s) out for you
Seeing the posts on charges, I highly recommend using National Express East Coast to book tickets, wherever in the country you are travelling to/from. They charge no fees and have an excellent system. I use the train a lot and always use NXEC. Only exception being when local sites offer special offers, if you have a card that they accept (which I didn't, until last month) – and even then I use the NXEC site to do the donkey work like working out split ticketing, it’s so much faster than others I’ve used0
