I think i just messed up my laptop!!!!!!!
I wanted to get rid of all the dell rubbish that comes installed so i tried to burn a recovery disc but that failed on 87%.
So i installed the windows disk that came with it and when it started up again there is no wireless connection program for me to connect to the internet.
Do i need to install drivers from somewhere?
Anyone any ideas of how i can get back to factory settings and i will put up with all the dell rubbish on there coz i just want my internet connect back on my laptop.
Will i have to send back to dell to get it sorted?
Any help would be great. Thanks.

you should still have the restore partition on the Laptop that resets it to as it left the factory
hit CTRL PF11 on start up when you see the blue Dell bar at the top of the screen, it should take you into it and off you goEx forum ambassador

You should have a Resource CD which contains all the drivers you need.
If not, you can visit Dell's website, tap in your service tag and it'll list the latest drivers for your system under various categories (soundcard, network drivers etc etc). You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
I think the OP made the error of overwriting the original load of Windows rather than using Add/Remove Programs to remove the Dell pre-loaded crap, might be easier to get back to the factory setting then do a manual delete of the crap ??Ex forum ambassador

have you tried the disk that failed at 87%, it works apparently !!
you need to go into the BIOS/ set up facilty on boot up and get it to boot from the CD drive first
if not you will have to do what the other poster said and download all the drivers etc on the Dell site andd burn them to a Cd to transfer to the Laptop
the Applications disk is all the stuff that was installed when it cam, mgiht be all you needEx forum ambassador
