RBS/Natwest,bank application process?

Options
I have been reading posts some a few month's old about the Bank account opening procedures. If you apply online for a current account, they do credit checks with Equifax. Then they send you back paperwork to sign, you then send it back and this subject to more checks - possibly Experian and manually checked.

The manual checks, what are these? Is it to see if you had been a previous customer and had debts with them?

My other question, if you apply in the branch, does it all get done there and then? Or could you still be accepted and declined at a later date? Quite a lot of posters who did the application online say they got approved initially only to be declined later:o

    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

It just seems unique to RBS?Natwest that do this 2 tier type checking and numerous posts on the matter.

    From previously.

They have already done your AVC.

They will now send you your application in the post for you to sign.

Once you have signed and returned it they will then complete the application by checking group internal records do an experian credit check if they havent already.

If you have had bad dealings with them in the past you will mostly likely be declined.

If your application gets accepted in branch without any referrals then your fine.

If you have been sent an application reference number take it to a branch with some ID and they will complete the application for you.

It'll save you waiting around for the info to come through and it will get processed quicker.

Thanks stclair for that info, it seems simpler to do it in branch as they seem to do it all in one go!
