Ipod query

I've recently inherited a 60gb ipod from my previous tenant (legitmately, don't worry!!). It has about 55gb of music on it as well as some contact details. It's weird because when you look for the music, it isn't there. I've synced it with my ipod and have put one of my playlists on it, so it says there is 107 songs on it (ie the size of my playlist) however in the settings menu it says that there is only 3.8bg available of the 55.7gb capacity. Someone at work the other day somehow 'found' the lost music - I've seen it, there is loads there. My OH has been playing around with it and the music has disappeared from where you'd expect it to be!! I intend to sell the ipod, but obviously can't sell it full of music. Also, the contact details are sensitive due to my previous tenant's job.

I've been on www.ilounge.co.uk, but to be honest it's aimed at technically minded people and I am not one of them!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
