Great camera bought with 1/2 price 4 Gb mini sd card (£9.99p)
Comes with batteries , PC leads , software etc

Nice camera ,the only petty thing I can say is that the basic operation/ user manual is really basic & if your just starting on these types of camera`s it may be a problem as it does`nt explain everything .
    Even so still worth it

The Cd has a 62 page manual ....

We like it by the way ....

If you do buy it from Argos, don't buy the half price case - they have one that fits for £7.99.

  • I Have found it, it is known elsewhere as an OLYMPUS FE-46, obviously the 'X-42' badge is an Argos only 'exclusive'

Unfortunately it is such a new model that I havent been able to find any reviews yet.

    dont.panic
  • Here is a review of the FE-46 (same as X-42) at the address below, (take out the spaces in www)

Not the best camera out there, but the cheapest in this range probably.
    Ok for happy snapping.
  • There are currently about 80 odd 'reviews' on the Argos website, which generally paint a pretty good picture for a (now) £70 camera. I tend to look for the reviewers who know what they are talking about, rather than your average punter and most of them say that it's a well above average, decent quality camera. Either as a 2nd camera for would-be photographers with decent SLRs or as a family camera for those who don't tend to worry about ISOs, this seems to hit the spot. There do seem to be a few duff examples around though and from what I've read, Olympus' Support line is about as much use as a second ....hole, so if you suspect you've got a bad 'un, just whip it straight back to the shop and create a stink.

I got the camer for christmas. i am very happy with it. easy to use. stylish. good quality(depends on what your looking for. not brilliant, profesional pictures) but once you get the hang of using it, the pictures can be excellent. i reccomend it because of it being a very good camera at a reasonable price!!!

I know this is an old thread, but you can still get this model camera, so I thought I would add my views.

I have been reading quite a few reviews and it seems that they are mostly excellent, but there are some poor reviews. However what I worked out was that although this is a compact point and shoot camera, it does help if you know how to use all the features:
    • Some people said that all their pictures were blury, but this camera has auto focus, so make sure it is turned on, as it works well and produces crystal clear pictures.
    • Some people said that they couldn't see the screen in bright sunlight. But you can adjust the screen brightness.
    • Some people complained of red eye, but there are also red eye reduction settings.
    • If you want to use ity as a point and shoot camera, then set it to 'i-Auto' as a default setting, and it will take excellent pictures, automatically adjusting to various settings like landscape, sport, or macro.
    • Once you have learned how to use all the features (which can take a while), then you can experiment with the settings, and take some really good photos.
