Ikea mistake

Options
Hi

I bought a PAX wardrobe system from ikea on friday, after unpacking it all i've noticed one of the doors does not haver any predrilled holes for the hinges. i had to hire a van to pick these up as they are really big, just called customer services as i hoped they would deliver me a new one as it is their mistake.

CS person was really rude, said tough luck you'll have to bring it back to the store and we'll swap it. explained I would need to hire another van to bring it back so would i be compensated for this cost - she said it was up to the manager in the store at that time. But i was not allowed to speak to them on the phone in advance so if they say no - its tough.

its just a pain as the store isn't that close to me so it's a pain to keep going back and forward to try and sort this out. Are they obliged to help me at all, or is the offer of an exchange all i'm likely to see?

Thanks

There is a live chat facility on their website - might be worth a try.

Wouldnt it be easier just to drill some holes yourself rather than go to those lengths. I know its not the point but anything for an easy life.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Ikea have horrendous customer services - my parents got a sun lounger thing with two left hand bits - they also discovered it was much easier just to drill holes to convert one of the pieces to a left hand bit!

They will not bother refunding you for hire of the van, so not worth the effort asking!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Thanks for the replies. I would have drilled the holes if they were straightforward through and through holes but they were cirlcular cut outs.

anyway, decided to go to the store and they are arranging for the delivery people to drop off a new door and take the old one away - so in the end not so bad! Although after i got home have now noticed the brackets are missing on one of the wire baskets so will have to go back again!!
