M&S/Pinnacle Mortgage protection Ins. and JSA question

I took out a policy back in 2001 with Marks and Spencer FS which will pay a monthly sum (after a 1 month wait period) if I am made redundant which is now likely as just been made 'at risk'. Since taking out the policy it has been taken over by Pinnacle. The policy info on the Pinnacle website, eg exclusions is slightly different to that on my original M and S policy. I have been working for the same employer since taking out the policy but reduced to p/t (18h per week) for the last 3 years post maternity leave.

Specifically I want to know if I can work p/t (less than 16 hours a week)in my husbands business (he is a self employed franchisee) without loss of JSA and my insurance payments? I will not be paid as the business is currently making a loss and unlikely to make much if any profit this year. My old M and S policy doc does not mention f/t or p/t but the docs on the Pinnacle website now say the policy only covers people who are in f/t employment.

Also if I am paid 3 months PILON can I claim JSA or do I have to wait 3 months before registering unemployed?

Thanks,

You would have to wait untill PILION has expired as techinically you are still employed.
Unless they sent you a change of terms and condtions, then technically you should be able to claim the mortgage relief.
A requirement of JSA is that you are actively seeking employment and any paid or unpaid work would have to be declared. You are only allowed to work up to 16 hours a week.

Having had my first JSA interview yesterday I can confirm that PILON does not come in to it.

I called them a few eeks ago and was told it DOES hence didn't do anything further. Then in my interview was told that if you are claiming contribution based JSA (so you will have being paying NI for the tax years 07 and 08) then PILON is NOT applicable and you can claim JSA.
