Even with the tax saving advantages of HCI, it does seem a little strange to go to PC World, when a similar spec system could be obtained from many other places at a much better price.
It also seems odd that to get the maximum benefit from this the purchaser is now scrabbling around trying to find something to spend £250 on because he is tied to a fixed spend !!
I thought this site was about "Money Saving".
We can see your point on questioning 'Money Saving' - though the HCI scheme is something we have been looking at for over 6 months, we have not gone into this lightly - but now we need a pc as our exsisting one is dying and not up to our requirements - in addition to our child benefiting from a pc for his schoolwork.
Entering a 'contract' to purchase an item is something we haven't done for sometime - indeed we have no loans, and no overdraft. And if you see from our posts in other forums are active money savers.
But we are to marry in June and weighing up the pros and cons with the finances it is more benficial to us to purchase a pc through this scheme and enjoy the tax savings.
The scheme stipulates, through our employer, that we must use pc world - we have no option there - and the same with the amount we have to spend.
The bigger picture is that if we can get away with not borrowing for our wedding / honeymoon, and get an up-to date pc with tax free savings - that is our money saving.
Our post here is for advise from the techie guys, as that not being our forte, we wanted to ensure we get the most advise for the products we purchase.0
