Argos - Not delivering within the 28 days

Just bought myself a flat and needed a sofa pretty quickly. Decided to go with Argos as they stated they would deliver within 28 days. I got a phonecall (well it was a recored message) from them on the 25th day stating they would be unable to deliver within that period of time and I would have to wait another month.
I phoned them stating the reason I chose them was the 28 day delivery promise and had I known I may well have went elsewhere. I said it was a great inconvience and I would be expecting compensation. She said compensation could only be settled when I take delivery.
Now considering I paid £413 for a 3 seater and a chair, what sort of compensation (if any) can I expect? Also are there any good tips on how best to deal with them when/if it comes down to negotiating compensation?
Thanks Folks

What 'compensation' do you think you are eligble for?
You could ask for a refund on your delivery charge for the inconvenience perhaps, but as they said originally you will need to wait until the sofa is delivered - if they do this it will only be a gesture of goodwill though. 'Compensation' is only awarded based on financial loss, but you have not lost any monies.
If you want you can cancel your order and get a full refund.
p.s. I've called it 'compensation' in a hypothetical sense, the C word is not widely accepted on this forum!![DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]

Oops sorry wasn't aware the C word isn't an accepted term.
