Help!! Need to earn some money?

Hello, i am 17 years old and am a student at college. :-)
So i really need some money for the 3 holidays i very stupidly booked and university which i start next year and driving lessons and loads of other things...
I have a part-time job and now that it is holidays i have started working as many hours as i can. But seeing as i only started doing so many hours last week and can only manage these amount of hours until september i am not going to make enough money.
So what other ways can i make money? I have signed up to some survey sites to get money but it doesnt seem very promising.
I was thinking is there not something i could do at home in my free times, like putting together cards for companies like those handmade ones or something? I am sure i have heard people doing things like that. And if it is possible who would i contact any companies.
Or have you got any other suggestions???

Is it too obvious to suggest that you cancel the three holidays and driving lessons until you have earned some money?0 -
the survey sites and all the rest dont give you a large income. most work at home stuff is also low paid so dont count on that.
the previous posters are right. cancel at least one of the holidays. going to college / uni will boost your chances of getting a better income in the future, that should be your priority.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
Hello,
Thanks for replying :-)
Right, driving lessons are out the window.
But:
One of the 'holidays' is a charity expedition to the rainforest where I will help educate the villagers on deforestation and other ways of earning money as well as cumulating information about the species and whether they are in decline etc. As well as all of this I will learn how to dive to do some marine biology. For me this is a once in a lifetime experience and will definitely help with ucas applications. You do have to pay to go and for the equipment needed such as sleeping bag, walking shoes etc. I have paid 1/5 of the total cost and really want to continue with the cause.
The other holidays where a bit spare of the moment, dam that Ryan air with its cheap flights. One is a family holiday but I just wanted to help out with the cost, but after speaking to my parents they have agreed to cover all my costs. The other is a holiday with friends and seeing as we are all in the same boat i.e. having no money we are doing it on a tiny budget so living in hostels etc. So I think that will be ok.
Anyway, how can I earn more money regardless on if I should cancel or not. I still need more money for one thing or another.
I don’t care if it is low paid; I have also started doing some distribution work which I am planning on doing in the mornings before work.
So I have a job, I am doing distribution work; I am doing online surveys, any other ideas.....

If you are doing something for a good cause why not do as sponsered walk/run for the charity, wash cares, sell cakes, EBay things. Sometimes we have kids in the supermarket packing bags for customers for a donation, if you make flyers and stuff, nothing fancy, explaining what you are doing people may sponsor you or just donate?0

It's not a cause, it's a holiday.
I'm sick to death of seeing people write on application forms about how they helped to educate (read : patronise) someone in the third world. Once you ask them the details, it turns out that they spent about 10 minutes on their 'cause' and the rest of the time on a 'nice little jolly' - usually paid for by gullible people who sponsor them in their cause.
As a biologist, and a damn good one, I'll tell you for a fact that people in these places aren't interested in what rich white children have to say. They're only interested in one thing - money. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

Err what? Maybe this is the case for some people, but most people actually do go out of their way to volunteer to go to other countries and help others. At my college, various charity events are run every year, where a select group of students go to say china or india and help people there, raising hundreds if not thousands of pounds in the process. So I really don't see how it's a holiday. You may be speaking from experience or having asked other people, but the minority does not mean it's true for the majority.0 -
To the OP, there are various at home work you could do e.g. teletech, arise, lionbridge. Look at the threads for these companies.0
