Thanks for the replys! ok then an off white it is then any suggestions of a good one? we have cream hall and stair carpets and oak floors in all rooms apart from the downstairs loo (cream lino) and the kitchen is pearwood units and black tile effect floor..if it helps!
Thanks0 -
Any pure white room that is north facing will look grey in the winter months so you want a warm white. The oak floors will look lovely with a really pale shade as they will bring some warmth and colour to the room, but the cream carpets will probably need some huge pictures or bright walls so as not to look like porridge!
My flat came painted throughout in a really subtle shade of grey-green (only just off white) which probably sounds disgusting but it just seems to adapt to anything. We have pale blue curtains in the bedroom so it looks greener in there, with sepia prints it looks more stone white ....Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Well got some Dulus paint things today have narrowed it down to 2 so will see..thanks!0

Always had creams and magnolias but now I've got a white walls throughout the ground floor of my house for the first time ever and I love it! Light, bright , airy, calming, crisp and fresh!!! Perfect.
Brilliant white emulsion is sooo much cheaper than shades of white. Chuck a bit of magnolia in it and mix your own off-white if you must.
You can spend forever mulling over shades of white and then can look totally different to your expectations once the actual room is painted and the light/aspect etc come into play. My personal thinking has come round to the point that it's really not that important sweating this stuff! The walls are just a backdrop after all!0 -
Tomsmom i have narrowed it down to either chiffon white no4 or golden jasmine no 4 the chiffon is white than jasmine and the jasmine is creamier but whiter than our current magnolia!
Hmm i don't know somone decide for me!0 -
I have been a magnolia person for as long as I can remember. Have just moved into a small cottage after a couple of years in a rented flat that had white walls every where and thought I would give it a try here instead of my usual manolia.
Nearly finished the hallway. White (very cheap, seven pounds for b&q's pure brilliant white 10 ltr). Could not resist adding a feature wall and have done f&b ball green. Which looks really nice against the white.
I'm pleased with the sparkly look the white has given the space. But it is a very sunny naturally light area, and that probably helps give it a warmer tone.0 -

I've only got a Dulux colour brochure here and there is a White Chiffon on there, if it's that one then that's nice - not too far away from Timeless. We have Jasmine White in our utility room and it looks good.
One thing I would say is don't go by the paint charts, go and buy a tester pot before investing in a big expensive tub. Most of our colours came up lighter than the paint chart but one in particular, Cornflower White which looks a pale grey on the chart came up almost like a wedgewood blue in the situation we used it in. It didn't go at all so we painted over with Timeless.
We've just bought four tester pots of feature wall paint in shades of brown to go with some curtains we've just ordered. We painted large pieces of lining paper with them, put them in the position where we'd paint the feature wall, and they all look quite different from when we compared the paint chart to the curtain sample.0 -
I personally hate magnolia and love white colour. So yes, our house is pretty much all white; kitchen, hallways, living room, toilet and a bathroom and a spare room. Our dd's room is pink and our bedroom is awaiting to be painted but am undecided on which colour to go for.
We've used Dulux Pure (or was it Brilliant?) White.0 -
We like natural calico and have used it in several houses.0
