A friend just called to say that she'd been called by Pipex about her 'slow PC' who pointed her towards a website called onlinesupportforyou[DOT]com.
She went there and down loaded some software called TeamViewer which allowed them to take over the PC (apparently) and some icons were whizzing around the screen. At this point she got nervous and hung up.
I've done a quick google and the company and software look genuine but I was wondering if anyone else had any experience and could tell me a bit more about them?

Why on Earth would an ISP call about a person's PC being slow? Really does sound dodgy and to be honest I wouldn't give a legitimate company control and access of my pc. Did your friend contact them first to ask for support for their pc being slow? If it was completely unsolicited then I'm baffled and all my alarm bells are ringing."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I wouldnt want someone let alone an isp controlling my pc like that, how would they know the pc was running slow0

Move along, nothing to see.0

Did she pay this ever-so-helpful company, or supply her credit card details by any chance?
If not, did she not wonder why they were doing this out of the kindness of their hearts? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Still working on the details and I've suggested they drop the PC off here. Will give a bit more info when I get it but it all sounded a little bit dodgy to me...Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0
