I need advice please - YELL DIRECT

Hi, I thought I'd taken out a pay-per-day "premium" listing with Yell.com 18 months ago.
Charges were to be £1 per day with no tie-in after 30days. I noticed that they pulled this offer soon after I took it up. Please don't ask how I missed this- but I did!--- They've never collected any payments or sent a confirmation via email or post. The only confirmation I recieved was an email thanking me for taking out a free listing with Yell.com!

Do you think there is a possibility that they will eventually catch up and ask for 18 months worth of £1 per day? I thought that 6 months was the maximum a company could ask for after failing to collect payments?

Worried too to cancel the listing in case this prompts them!
I all fairness though, it's been a rubbish method of advertising for me, I've had little business from it.

Any experiences or advice - greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i would first visit the yell.com site and look for your advert to see if it is a premium or free listing, if its the latter then you have nothing to worry about. You also need to check your paperwork from yell to see what you have signed for that will tell you what you have ordered, but if they havent taken payment yet im sure they will be in touch
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

I wouldn't worry to much I cant see yellow pages lasting much longer with the 3.8 billion in debt and accounts dont add up.

    From press release:

Yell’s market value has plummeted from £5billion to £220million in a little over two years.
    Kind Regards

I have had adverts on yell.com and yellow pages for the last 2 years to the tune of £800 and have had no business from it at all. I have had loads of phone calls each time the book is released but it is always from scammers phoning to remind me that they need payment for an advertising feature I agreed to take part in. they are not getting my money this year.

Just use there free basic add listing. With the above member saying they cut the offer once they signed up it maybe could be they changed from the pay basic listing to giving free add away

I have been having problems with Yell since January 2011, I am not surprised at any comments left by users here. All the comments I have read broadly confirm my own experiences and anybody thinking of advertising with Yell should take more notice of users comments here than of the salesman's chatter - They will promise anything to get a sale and once they have your agreement they will deny they ever said anything. They are loath to put anything in writing since this would serve as proof of their apparent lies. Now don't get me wrong, advertising does work but I question whether the hassle of dealing with Yell is worth the additional business that it gives. I have had one successful query in 4 months worth £600 from advertising with Yell, I have had another 30 or 40 CVs both by post and email, I have received offers of bribery to use other firms services, I now receive letters from the TV licensing authority to my office and the list goes on. My advice to anyone with a complaint about Yell is to contact the CEO Mike Pollock. I did after receiving no help from so called customer servives for 4 months; within an hour someone called me to say that the "CEO's Customer Mediation Team" was investigating, they even volunteered to send me an email and you know what? they did, so that I could call them direct. I will keep you posted on how I get on.
