Cheap Flights to the US - Christmas

Hi to all

We have decided rather late I believe to go away for Christmas. Our faves are Las Vegas, New York and Minneapolis (thats where my best friend lives).
Looking at flights online they are outrageously expensive. I know its cheaper to fly Christmas Day but i couldnt see a huge drop in price.

The cheapest way to get to the US seems to be with the lesser known carriers i.e. Air India etc but when I google cheap flights I get the same old suspects - Expedia/Travelocityairline network etc.
Do bucket shops still exist? how do I find those wonderfully cheap flights that everyone else seems to get. I know its asking a lot at Christmas but £700 to Vegas is a second mortgage job

Thanks

I have just booked VERY cheap flights with DELTA to the states.
I dont know where you want to fly from, but maybe you want to check it out anyway. Hope this helps! ( Our dates were 15th-31st December) maybe these are cheap dates?

Thanks very much for that will check out Delta. I was looking to go around 23/12 for a week. Live in the Midlands but probably have to fly from a London airport to get a good price.

    Much appreciated

Don't forget that Minneapolis & New York could easily both be 20 to 30 degrees below freezing at that time of year...

Low fares are likely to be available from September onwards ... you are probably too early too book now.

Try a flight+hotel deal through https://www.trailfinders.com you only need to stay 1 night in the hotel to get a deal.

Cook_County - Thank you I was wondering if it would be better to wait, we have a certain amount of flexibility with dates. I have been in NY early December and yes it is sooooo cold but the shops are still open !!! Minneapolis, a little anxious about that. My friend lives there and they do have the Mall of America which is tempting but not sure how i would handle 20 below.

richardw - Will take a look thanks a lot.

Try KLM, they fly (via NWA) to Minneapolis. Quite cheap on our recent trip to Vegas from UK.

I have been in Chicago at 45 below (farenheight). It was not safe to spend more than 5 minutes outdoors. Minneapolis is colder than that. I have been in New York for Xmas too, and hit a very cold spell, British clothes are not sufficient.
