I am in the middle of writing an appeal to a Rent Officers decisions on the basis that the couple involved do need 2 bedrooms. Having spoken to the HB team they have informed me that with a doctors note they could use that to be assessed again for 2 bedrooms. It does NOT have to be 2 single beds in one room, it can indeed be 2 rooms.

Retrobeen, I would also suggest they have a total benefit check from a local Benefit Advisor, Age Concern and CAB as well as other agencies will do them. If your mother does need a certain amount of care I would suggest she may be able to apply for Attendance Allowance.
