Car written off ..Advice on getting best price pla

Following an "our fault" crash our car has been written off. The fully comp policy will pay out but I have looked around and the same make, model, and year etc will set us back 7K to 7.5K.The insurance company have offered 6.5K and then added £75 when I refused the offer. I have told them of many from the Autotrader site to back my case and they have found ONE at their price. We are now at stalemate and they want me to send all the car paperwork,ie log book, service record etc as they say they can't increase the offer without them. Should I send just photo copies as at the moment that seems to be my only bargaining chip. What happens if they wont increase the offer,is their someone that can act as an arbitrator? I am not in the AA or RAC.

thanks in advance.

http://www.honestjohn.co.uk  for all things motoring - maybe worth posting in Thee Backroom - Discussion forum, in there.

You need to provide the insurers with the information they ask for, copies are the sensible way to go.

htttp://www.whatcar.co.uk  lets you get valuations, freely.

Lots of things could affect the TRUE value of your car...

    number owners
    service records
    pre-accident condition
what you paid for it - were you given an over allowance, on your trade in, when it was purchased.Perhaps your model could have been had for a substantial discount, originally?

Are you dealing directly with the insurer, or a broker? If a broker, they should be doing the chasing for you. If it's a 'direct' company, they will have a complaints procedure, for you to go through, if you can't resolve things.
