Options on Firefox

Have recently changed computer, and am having trouble changing tjhe settings, the Fonts, and also the 'privacy' settings. Change them in tools, then they revert back?

Any ideas please?

  • Hi,

    :o, the thanks was a mistake, meant to hit the reply button, but you can keep it anyway. :rotfl:

    Ehh, do you remember to click the 'OK' button, after making changes?

  • Hi

    In the first box of privacy: Firefox will:

    it should say:use custom settings for history.
    If you think it will take more than 3 hours to fix a software problem it is probably quicker to reinstall windows. 30 mins to install windows, 2½ hours to reinstall all your nice software

    It doesn't, and when I try to change it, it defaults back to 'Remember History'.

  • I asked because sometimes, the antivirus program can set the settings for security in the browser, so go check out the options in the antivirus, :)

    getting there, Firefox!

    On the JS file, I am seeing (amongst a long string)

    user_pref("intl.charsetmenu.browser.cache", "windows-1250, windows-1252, ISO-8859-1, UTF-8");
    user_pref("microsoft.CLR.auto_install", false);
    user_pref("network.cookie.prefsMigrated", true);
    user_pref("pref.privacy.disable_button.cookie_exceptions", false);
    user_pref("pref.privacy.disable_button.view_cookies", false);

    user_pref("print.print_printer", "Canon iP4300");
    user_pref("print.printer_Canon_iP4300.print_bgcolor", false);

    Scares the hell out of me, but is it something to do with the highlighted entries? If I get it wrong, is it all recoverable, or maybe delete the whole profile, and download Firefox again? I don't use any of the extensions, so would not lose anything I don't think.

    No nothing unusual there.
    If you've excluded external influences like Norton you may well have a corrupt profile or preferences but trawling through them can take forever.
    If it's a recent install I'd be inclined to either reset the prefs file or uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Either way you'll lose all your settings!

    I'd go for a reinstall with a clean download of the most recent version.
