  • I would leave it if I were you. Really if you didn't want International eBay users bidder you should have stated this in the auction and made the auction available to UK bidders only. It would seem a little unfair to cancel his/her bids right near the end.

At the end of the day anyone can initiate a chargeback.

I've just checked with my 16yo son (who knows much more about this than I) and he tells me he's never seen a silver PS2 in the states so the info the buyer gave you seems about right. I still have my doubts about the power supply though, so you'll have to hope that a buyer obsessive enough to want something like this is obssessive enough to check out that it will work!

Sorry to throw another spanner in the works but there is another problem. Many US states have quite low rates for when duty and taxes kick in and oddly the US buyers themselves don't seem to realise this!

There is the possibility therefore that the package gets caught at US customs and the buyer refuses to pay additional charges which means that even tracking it won't help you as it will never be delivered.

Just to thow another spanner in the works (you'll soon have enough for a toolset :)) but the PS is unlikely to work in the USA unless they have a PAL (European) TV as they have a different format (SECAM) in the USA. You might also want to check the manual for that. Even if it does work, they can only play European or Japanese games and not US games due to the region protection (ala DVDs).

from my experience........yank, bidding on a UK spec machine

walk away from it........really, cancle their bids

USA uses a different TV system (NTSC, we use PAL, if they plug their PS into the TV, they'll get a rolling picture) (unless they use an RGB lead or composite of course)

USA uses 110V AC, UK uses 220V AC, and i dont think later PS can handle both voltages

USA and UK have different regional lockouts, so, games bought there wont work on a machine bought here

you really DON't want to be getting involved :-(

also, think to yourself, why would a yank be buying YOUR PS when USA ebay has them around the same price, or cheaper and postage is significantly cheaper too......two reasons, they're thick, or scammers (which means post and costs are a moot point, they'll chargeback on paypal anyway, they get it free)

Oh, Omertron, SECAM is the french spec for TV transmissions
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Yea i'd not post that to the USA, too many possible or 'certain' problems that will arrive! I get enough problems when sending dvds over there never mind electricals.

ok, one last thing- this person won the auction, by the time i knew all this he had already won- ive told him about the voltage and the plug situation but he keeps on pressing me. ohhh i wish i had remembered to list it as uk only.
hes paid me by paypal now too! i thought something was fishy cause he gave me a po box number- i said i wouldnt post to this so now hes given me another address.
can i just refuse to send it- looking at it the person is either a scammer or buying something that will be a waste of time in the states. ok so ill get negged but its better than losing £155!!! this is the item no if anyones interested (8274974339)
thanks, ill write him another message now

    thanks x

Having looked at the items he's puchased in the past I don't think he's a scammer per se. Most of them seem to be PSP or Anime related so he's consistent. Re the format - it is possible to hack these systems, either via software or a mod chip to allow them to play different region games/movies. As I said before, gamers can be obsessive in their pursuit of the new and different, which may be what you've got here.

I still wouldn't send it though, unless you get written confirmation that he/she is aware of the issues raised in this thread.

P.S. PO Boxes are much more common in the US than the U.K. However, none of the main delivery companies (UPS, FEDEX etc deliver to them)

Most of our american buyers at work (internet shop) use PO Box numbers. But if you are too worried then dont do it. Hope you get it sorted.
