Kitten got stung

A bee or wasp, flew into my flat and naturally my kitten went for it, honestly, I'm glad he's not an outside cat, the birds and mice would have no chance, the sheer speed of him is unreal. Anyways, he pinned it down and went for a munch, and got stung in the face.

I thought it was his eye to start with as he kept closing one, but it was around his mouth, near his whiskers he got it, but the stinger was still in his face - so was it a wasp? Maybe a honeybee? As from what I can remember during my screaming and flapping around (I'm terrified of them) it was slim and not fat like a bee, but then wasps don't leave their stinger behind?

OH managed to get it out the window whilst I ran after my baby, I got the stinger out with tweezers, and he seems fine, seems better once I got the sting out, though a bit subdued.....so I gave him tuna :o

Is there any signs I should look out for? Doesn't seem to be any visable swelling, and his eye is fine.

Lots of cuddles? Poor thing - AND THIS IS WHY BEES AND WASPS ARE EVIL!

Never ever use tweezers to remove them (Just so you know if it happens again!) as you can squeeze more venom in, brush it sideways with a credit type card or fingernail etc. As long as it's not in his mouth or round the nose etc & his airways aren't swelling he'll be ok, if he was going to have anyphalatic shock (sp!) now he would've! You can try holiding an ice cube on it (Wrapped in something so it doesn't burn)

Glad he's ok, just keep an eye on him & be sure his airways are ok & he isn't struggling to breathe, or if you see swelling around the airways call the Vets

Arr poor little thing. They all have to learn the hard way im afraid. He wont be so quick to chase the buzz next time one comes in

One of my old cats was even scared of flies for this exact reason, poor charlie!

Hope kitty is ok, im sure he'll just be feeling sorry for himself for a while

    Sounds like a bee.
Bees aren't evil - they only sting when threatened. If it makes you feel any better... they then go off to die :D
Wasps, however, are vindictive little sods and will sting for the fun of it, or because they're drunk, or because they decided to chill inside your shoe... and then they DON'T die, so they are free to sting you again!

I did try and pull it out with my fingers but couldn't get a grip, so had to use the tweezers, I grabbed the gooey end bit though, was the lesser of two evils, leave it in longer or just get it out!

He's fine, back to his greedy hyperactive self, he's currently hiding in my bag, waiting to pounce on my other cat.

Well I hope he'll learn his lesson, I bet he doesn't. What kinda Bee flies 8stories high.....no food up here!!
