I have checked on the wireless sticky, but can't see anything about this.
I have set up a wireless network (pc & laptop). It took me three weeks but I got there eventually (I think
).
I am on ntl broadband and would like to access my ntlworld email from the laptop but I can't figure out how to do it. I have been accessing it through the website (webmail) but there is a limit to what you can do with that. Anybody know if it can be done, and how?
Also, is it possible to put a firewire card into a laptop so I can use my digi camcorder? (sorry, first lappy and know absolutely nothing about them!)

ps its the Dell Inspiron 1300.

Second question - you need a PCMCIA Firewire card, something like http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=58971. Bound to be freeware/shareware editing software around or look for Pinnacle, they do kits with hardware and software.0

Thanks rogerramjet, I followed the instructions but it hasn't quite worked. I now have two email accounts with exactly the same name! Obviously need to change settings somewhere. Thanks also manathome for the info re pcmcia card. Not quite sure where this would go in a laptop as there are no spare slots. Would I have to take out one of the usb cards?0

you should have 2 slots on the site with blanker(??) cards in there. 2 little tabs next to them, push the tab and it'll pop out. Push it back in and the blanker card will pop out.0

I have one slot, which is for an ExpressCard, according to Dell.
This may be a problem. When I tried to get a wireless card (locally) to slot in there, I was told that these Expresscards are so new that nobody stocks them. I had to go to a Dell outlet and have an internal wireless card put in. I have looked on Dell's website and cant see anything resembling a firewire card.
I installed a firewire card on my 'big' pc no problem, but I know absolutely nothing about laptops.0 -

This thread might help (or not.) http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/267311/an/0/page/0
ExpressCard is still rather new and not very well supported at the moment.0 -
Cheers for that link. But at that price I will stick to my main pc to download my videos.
This laptop is proving to be not such a bargain after all! Will have to wait patiently until this Expresscard thing takes off.0
