Will this affect my credit rating?

in Credit cards
Hi. Im currently living in a shared house with a live in landlord. The landlord has debts coming out of his ears, with threats of bailiffs and magistrate court attendance notices etc.
Ive googled around, and dont think that simply by living there my credit rating is affected (which should be top notch as im on top of my finances). However, when i moved in we set up a broadband account in both mine and the landlord's name (im paying the bill by direct debit).
By simply having an account associated with him, will that have a negative effect on my credit rating?

It should not affect your credit file, your broadband account is unlikely to be a feature on your credit file. Have you checked your credit report recently?0

Hi
Simply living in the same house as a 'bad debtor' should not impact on your credit rating.
The broadband account shouldn't create a financial link as they do not normally report to CRA's, I know that mine doesn't show on credit file.

Thanks guys - youve set my mind at rest! Think I'll still start looking for somewhere else to live though, cos i really couldnt be doing with bailiffs nicking my stuff to pay his debts.
Cheers again0 -
Guys,
FYI - Virgin report to CRA's if you have both names on the account this will create a financial assosiation. When lenders search your file, they will also take the LL into concideration, depending on which lender you choose.
Get a copy of your credit report and if it shows an assositation, make a request for the link to be broken.
Best of luck
