Egg offer - where do I go now

I claimed £504 from Egg plus interest for Overlimit and Unpaid direct debit charges. They have offered only £60 being the difference from where they charged £20 and their current £16 charge.

They appear to suggest that the OFT has agreed their £16 charge because they collect by direct debit but I believe that this can only apply to the Unpaid DD charges and not to Overlimit charges.

I've already sent the letter threatening court action and received the same offer, where do you suggest I go now, down the court route or the FOS route?

I've just received what must be the same letter. I'm claiming a little over £310 and have been offered £52 which they said they would credit to my account (even though they cancelled the card and I would not be able to access the money) So I plan to threaten them with court for the full amount and for it to be paid by cheque so that I can have access to the money that they illegally denied me.
  • They will try to put you off with a final offer. Dont stop! Threaten the ombudsman.

    Hi all,

Just had my second respopnses from Egg, pretty much along the lines of what you've just put. The original complaint was for the total charges (just shy of £500) on my Egg and Egg Money cards, although they split the two of them into two seperate complaints and offered me £16 and £4 (£4 - was it even worth making that one!?). Sent a reply calling for the full amount again, threatened court, and they've replied saying the previous offer is the full and final one.

Does anyone think I should go straight to the FOS now, or is it worth pressing Egg one last time (I'm recalling a previous thread saying Egg usually have a "three letters" system)?

Interestingly (or perhaps not so), the two latest letters state that they previously offered me £16 in both complaints - they didn't, they offered me £16 and £4. Might it be worth using this as a technicality of some kind in a final letter?

    Cheers all!

PS. Sorry of this look like a thread hijack, just trying to keep similar information in one place!

I sent a third letter explaining that as they had refunded just shy of £2000 for PPI missold without which my account would never have been overlimit they should re-consider their offer and very quickly received a letter saying that their second letter was their final offer.

I have another thread on here asking whether I should use the court or the FOS but no one is replying to that. I feel I'm going the court route
