I do wonder tho whether the basket tends to lag in times of economic uncertainty and what impact this has - for example in times of uncertainty durable goods purchases may be cut right back and the fall in demand lead to major discounting - the inflation figure based on a basket that included the boom time level of durable goods purchases will fall much more than the 'current' basket?
    I think....

This is the "substitution" that chris martenson speaks of in the link I posted above.

Thanks - my bad - often don't follow the links from this board as they often go to some very 'tin hat' places...

Some may think that Cris Martenson's "crash course" is a bit tin hattish.

Although it has its critics, it is very educational and the whole series is well worth watching before you make up your mind.

Not cold baked beans then Pastures? - as per the typical unemployed persons diet as you mentioned in an earlier post today?;):D

Oooh....go on Pastures...give it a watch sometime and then your considered opinion on it. Come to think of it - I really should give it a considered "watch" myself at some point - as I seem to recall I mighta given a link to it on my "chez ceridwen" blog somewheres - at the point at which I was giving a couple of useful economics links that those in theTransition Movement might like to see....:D

I'm not unemployed, I just live as if I were :)

I've spent the day setting up a bulk mailer on one of my servers, so I can finally email my 20,000 website members (never got round to it before), so after 12 hours of that, I deserved a treat :)

I also wrote half a book, that will end up being in 3 parts it got so huge ... showing people step by step how they can get extra pennies from google with just 10 minutes of work that costs them nothing. That's what I do, spot opportunities.
