Good Luck!
I've done the last two GNR's for Macmillan (plus another in Liverpool). If you've never done it before it's an amazing experience something you can't describe until you've done it yourself. Not running it this year due to it being my 21st that day!
Tip: have you booked accommodation yet? If not do so now else you'll end up paying LOADS! I've can find details if you want. Taxi there is loads but cheap accommodation with great breakfast!
Any help just ask!0 -
Hi jenny_f
I'm actually a student at Newcastle University, so I'm lucky enough to have my own house for the race day. It's only about a 20 min walk to the start line. Not as close as where I live now though - I could be at the start in 5 mins!
This is my first time doing anything like this. I'm by no means what anyone would call the athletic type, but I'm just taking my training one step at a time. I'm only able to run just over a mile at the minute, but considering 6 weeks ago I couldn't have run a length of myself, it's not bad going! Hopefully I'll be able to run at least half of it by the time October comes round!
Does Macmillan have a tent thing at the finish line? What sort of things do they provide?0 -
Hi
yes there is a tent at the end, mars bars, drinks, bananas etc.
training wise i managed all three times with less than 1 mile training so thats better than me!
beware of the coaches at the end, i wanted to go to the station and ended up in the centre os had to walk - not good!0 -
I'll bear that in mind! I don't think I'll be in any state to walk anywhere by the time I reach South Shields! I might convince my friends to meet me at the end and carry me home! I'm sure they'll be thrilled when I tell them....0
