I have just transferred a balance off one of my Credit Cards onto my Virgin one (0% for 16 months) and then chopped the card up.
Feel sick - I wonder if its because i used it as a crutch and now that one is gone?????
Please tell me i have done the right thing?????

Definitely, although I understand the feeling of panic. I shredded all mine in the week with very mixed feelings. Glad they're gone now and it makes you think twice about buying junk when its real cash money you're parting with. I used to feel secure knowing I had a purseful of cards to fall back on in an 'emergency', although the only emergency I've had is racking up to many cards! Well done for doing something painful but positive!

Yeay well done you!!!!!! So you did decide to consolidate some of the smaller ones?
It really was the right thing to do.....now you have two less creditors to manage.
Have you got rid of that Next card with the high APR or is that stage 2?
I'm off to go for a nice horsey ride for the morning (am expecting him to be as fat as a barrel as the sheep keep knocking the fencing down!)
Well done and keep up the good work :THSBC Loan [STRIKE]£5845.83[/STRIKE] £2500 Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1085.76[/STRIKE] £592.74 Barclays Overdraft [STRIKE]£1100[/STRIKE] £600

Enjoy your ride - i got plenty of ragwort to get up!! ACE!! thats cheap entertainment!!
i moved part of the M&S debt to Tesco - at 11pm last night - i was very impressed with tesco - got a 7% interest charge for the life of the balance - i could have had 0% for 6 months but then it would have gone up to 16.9 - so decided on the 7% as i wont get rid of it in 6 months (being realistic!) move the gold debt onto the virgin card which then frees up extra cash to get rid of Next - thing is its a directory account (no card) and i ordered a load of stuff in the sale and until it is delivered then they wont update my account - which is very annoying -toying with the idea of just cancelling the whole order - clearing the balance with the Egg card and closing the directory account. The only thing which is stopping me is if Egg see that as a cash transaction??? i figured that i could clear next in just under 4 months if im savvy enough. ARGH!!
Nightmares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for all your help - its nice to be able to talk about this debt stuff!!:beer:O/S Debt: PL £[STRIKE]15207.34[/STRIKE] £9884.55; HSBC £4060.99; Tesco£1430.15; M&S £5990.17; Virgin [STRIKE]£5158.69[/STRIKE] £4210.14; Egg £4619.00; O/S = ££30,292.42 AIM - To Be Debt Free 56 months0 -
Clearing ragwort almost sounds as much fun as picking up poos.
I had a lovely ride...there was a slight moment of panic when I took a wrong turning in the woods and ended up on the top of the moor by some wild ponies but I diverted his attention away before I ended up in the middle of them. Yikes!
You're beginning to sound like a real debt free wannabe now! Very educated desicion about choosing the fixed rate of 7%.
Cancelling your Next order and closing the directory?? Wooah there, steady on. That sounds like a very sensible thing to do indeed! Soon you'll be selling all your belongings on Ebay like I did!
Ring up Egg and ask them about doing a balance transfer, remember that you need to ask about balance transfer fees and interest. I recently paid off and closed my Egg Card (wohoo!) but I found Egg to be very helpful.HSBC Loan [STRIKE]£5845.83[/STRIKE] £2500 Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1085.76[/STRIKE] £592.74 Barclays Overdraft [STRIKE]£1100[/STRIKE] £600

Well done!! No one will let me have any more credit cards to transfer mine to 0%!! Had to get groceries for the week today and gulp, use my credit card for the first time in MONTHS!! Had a bad month, want to get it out of the way, roll on pay day and paying off more debts. Doing 21 hours this weekend on top of my 37.5 during the week, can't use the electric at home etc, and thinking of the money to clear my debts at the end of August. Trying not to dwell on the two nights out I had this month that have crippled me!!!
You are going in the right direction - yippee!! xx0
