Wireless without USB

Options
Hi, I have the netgear DGB111G with a usb dongle. When I got it I was lazy and just used the dongle.

Now I am fed up of keep knocking my USB out, have looked in the instructions and there is nowhere where it shows you how to set it up wirelessly without the USB :wall:

Anyone here done it? I have tried doing the wireless set up wizard on XP and it keeps coming up that it has found no networks. DO I have to go through the host comp to the netgear site

Any ideas?

The USB dongle is what provides the wireless connectivity to the Netgear wireless router. Unless your laptop or desktop computer already has a wireless adapter built in you must use the USB dongle to connect wirelessly.

I does have wireless built in. I have gone wireless on it before on an old router.

Just ran belarc and it now says no network devises found

maybe its packed up, might just have to install a new network card.

Either keep using the USB dongle or go and buy a wifi pci card to put into your pc

Is this a laptop or a PC? With some laptops you have to enable the built-in wireless adapter in the BIOS or by using a system configuration tool.

Another thing to try (with USB adapter unplugged):

Start - Control Panel - Network Connections.

What does it say for your Wireless Network Connection? If it's Disabled, click it and Enable it. Then Repair it and View available wireless networks.

It says the network is not connected, try to repair and it couldnt connect to the network and to contact the person who manages it.

I think my wifi card might be knackard, might just have to get a new one in.

    PS its a laptop :)

Some laptops have a switch to enable the wireless, some have a key combination (Fn +Fx). Have a look for a wireless logo on the function keys, or a switch.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
