I had a problem once when I filled up and realised I had forgotten my wallet at home ! The person at the counter filled up a form with all my details including my reg number. She then said that I needed to come back and make the payment within seven days or the police would be contacted.0

I worked in a petrol station some years ago and if anyone didnt pay, their car details were written in a folder and basically were left. Nothing got done about them.
Many years ago in the days when petrol stations still took cheques I inadvertantly forgot to sign one. Neither I nor the cashier noticed and as I am not terribly good at bothering to check bank statements I never noticed that it didn't clear.
It wasn't a petrol station I visited often so my next visit was some 3 YEARS later.... Again I paid by cheque ( remembering to sign it this time). The cashier did a visible double take, rooted in a drawer beside her and pulled out my original unsigned cheque!
I just hope the girl got a reward from her boss for matching me but it was a mighty expensive tank of petrol for me on that second visit!0
